Spartanburg, South Carolina can boast having two of the Upstates best medical facilities. The Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and the Mary Black Health System are both highly rated and offer top-notch medical care. They serve not only Spartanburg but other counties in the region as well.
Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is one of the largest hospital systems in the state. The main campus is located at 101 East Wood Street. The 588 bed hospital provides care from birth to hospice. Spartanburg Regional is the Level I Trauma Center for the region. Hospital services include emergency care, maternity, regional pediatrics, orthopedics, imaging services, stroke care, rehabilitation services, and a regional hospice center. Its Institute for Robotic Surgery offers comprehensive surgical services. The Heart Center provides patients with world-class cardiovascular care. The Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health offers state-of-the-art imaging services. Patients will receive cutting edge treatment at the Gibbs Cancer Center, which is a nationally recognized treatment and clinical research facility. Gibbs Cancer Center is associated with the National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Center program and the Medical University of South Carolina, as well as the M.D. Anderson Physicians Network. The newest facility associated with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is the Village at Pelham in Greer, South Carolina. The 48 bed hospital offers emergency care, a surgery center, and other services. The facility is located at 250 Westmorland Road in Greer. Mary Black Health System, founded in 1925, has served the Spartanburg community for more than 80 years. The acute care facility has 209 beds. Mary Black Memorial Hospital offers emergency care, diagnostic services, a Birthing Center, neonatal care, a Womens Breast Health Center, and orthopedic services. Its Center for Rehabilitative Medicine offers various types of services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, and recreational therapy. Patients with diabetes will find a wound care center, outpatient diabetes education, and support groups at Mary Black. The Sleep Center conducts sleep studies and treats sleep disorders. In 2011 the Stroke Center at Mary Black Health System received the Joint Commissions Gold Seal of Approval for certification as a primary stroke center. The Joint Commission is the countrys oldest and largest healthcare standards-setting and accrediting body. HealthGrades has also rated Mary Black #1 in Upstate South Carolina for stroke care. Mary Black Memorial Hospital is located at 1700 Skylyn Drive. These two comprehensive health care facilities bring many people to the Spartanburg area each day for medical treatment.
